Refuse to accept anything but the best

July 20, 2013

Students don’t need great teachers or great facilities or great tools to be great students. We should be directing most of our PSAs at students to excel, to learn, and be inquisitive. We should DEMAND their best effort.

Every once in a while we read about some superhuman student who rose above the crap and did well, as though it’s a miracle. She is not a miracle student. She simply accomplished what was expected of her. The others are shameful failures.

It’s a funny thing about life;
if you refuse to accept anything but the best
you very often get it.

– William S. Maugham
